-Captured during the Battle of Singapore. Died as a prisoner of war of malaria at Changi, Singapore on 29 April 1942.

Killed in action on 31 March 1945 by shellfire at Appelhulsen, Germany while the battalion was forming up to move off on its advance to Albachten and Münster; he was described in the battalion’s war diary as ‘one very valuable member of the Bn’.
-Originally buried at Buldern, his remains were reinterred on 29 May 1947 at Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Germany.
