Born at Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire on 30 June 1913 and educated at Sherborne School. Commissioned from the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich into the Royal Regiment of Artillery on 2 February 1933. After completing his training at the School of Instruction for Royal Horse and Field Artillery, Larkhill in 1933, he joined 13th Light Battery (renamed 113th Field Battery in 1935). He joined 2nd (Derajat) Mountain Battery in India in late-1936. Lieutenant Michael Earle, Royal Regiment of Artillery, 2nd (Derajat) Mountain Battery (Frontier Force) was killed in action on 9 April 1937 at Shahur Tangi. He is commemorated at Sherborne School in the Book of Remembrance and on No. 43 Memorial Pew in the School Chapel. Obituary: The Shirburnian, June 1937.
