Born on 18 December 1893 in India, the son of Serjeant Major Arthur F. H. Barron, 1st Battalion, East Surrey Regiment. Commissioned into the Army Service Corps on 26 January 1916 and served in France during the First World War before being seconded to the Indian Army on 23 January 1917. He served during the Third Anglo-Afghan War and in the Waziristan Campaign, in the case of the latter with No. 2 Indian motor Transport Company (India General Service Medal 1909, with clasps ‘AFGHANISTAN NWF 1919’ and ‘WAZIRISTAN 1919-21’). Lieutenant Arthur Sidney Noel Barron, No. 14 Indian motor Transport Company, Indian Army Service Corps, died of disease on 29 July 1922.
